Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using Dinner Debate ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.
2. Description of Service
Dinner Debate is a family meal planning application that allows household members to vote on recipes using a swipe-based interface. The service includes recipe browsing, voting cycles, results aggregation, and optional premium features.
3. Account Registration
To use the App, you must:
- Be at least 13 years old (or have parental consent)
- Provide accurate and complete registration information
- Maintain the security of your account credentials
- Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account
You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account.
4. Subscription and Payments
4.1 Free Tier
The free tier includes basic voting functionality, access to our recipe library, and supports up to 4 family members.
4.2 Premium Subscription
Premium subscriptions are available at $4.99/month or $29.99/year and include unlimited family members, custom recipe creation, AI-powered features, and more.
4.3 Billing
- Subscriptions are billed in advance on a recurring basis (monthly or yearly).
- iOS subscriptions are processed by Apple and governed by Apple's terms.
- Web subscriptions are processed by Stripe.
- Prices are subject to change with reasonable notice.
4.4 Cancellation and Refunds
- You may cancel your subscription at any time.
- Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
- For iOS subscriptions, manage cancellation through your Apple ID settings.
- We do not provide refunds for partial subscription periods.
4.5 Free Trials
We may offer free trial periods. After the trial ends, your subscription will automatically begin unless cancelled before the trial expires.
5. User Content
5.1 Your Content
You retain ownership of content you create, including custom recipes, profile photos, and family names. By posting content, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, display, and distribute your content solely for operating the Service.
5.2 Content Guidelines
You agree not to post content that:
- Is illegal, harmful, or offensive
- Infringes on intellectual property rights
- Contains malware or malicious code
- Impersonates others or is fraudulent
- Violates the privacy of others
5.3 Content Removal
We reserve the right to remove any content that violates these Terms without notice.
6. Families and Invitations
- Family creators ("admins") can invite others via email or invite code.
- By joining a family, your display name, profile photo, and voting activity will be visible to other family members.
- Admins can remove members from their family at any time.
- You may leave any family at any time.
7. AI Features
Premium users may access AI-powered recipe generation. AI-generated content is provided "as is" and we do not guarantee its accuracy, completeness, or suitability for any purpose. Always use your own judgment regarding food safety and dietary needs.
8. Prohibited Uses
You agree not to:
- Use the App for any illegal purpose
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service
- Reverse engineer or decompile the App
- Create automated accounts or use bots
- Resell or redistribute the Service
9. Intellectual Property
The App, including its design, features, and content (excluding user content), is owned by Dinner Debate and protected by intellectual property laws. Our curated recipe library is licensed for use within the App only.
10. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE.
Recipe information, including nutritional data and cooking instructions, is provided for informational purposes only. We are not responsible for any adverse effects resulting from the use of recipes found in the App.
11. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, DINNER DEBATE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY.
12. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these Terms. You may delete your account at any time by contacting support@dinnerdebate.me.
13. Changes to Terms
We may modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Terms in the App or sending you an email. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
